The web is acquiring a parallel interface layer built for AI agents. This document maps the protocol stack, implementation patterns, and competitive landscape that Ideaflow is building into.

The Protocol Stack

Seven layers, from content to discovery. Each solves a different piece of the agent-web interaction.

WebMCP Deep Dive

The most significant new standard. WebMCP lets any webpage declare structured, callable tools for AI agents — replacing screenshot-based interaction with direct function calls.

Two Implementation Modes

Declarative (HTML)

  • Add toolname and tooldescription attributes to HTML forms
  • Browser auto-translates fields into structured schema
  • Agent calls tool → browser fills and submits form
  • Minimal code changes for existing sites
  • Good for: static forms, search, filters

Imperative (JavaScript)

  • Register tools via navigator.modelContext API
  • Includes name, description, input schema, execute fn
  • Tools can register/unregister based on page state
  • Full programmatic control
  • Good for: SPAs, dynamic interfaces, complex workflows

Three-Step Agent Flow

1. Discover

Agent arrives at page → browser exposes declared tools as structured schema

2. Read Schema

Agent reads tool definitions — parameters, types, descriptions — and selects the right one

3. Execute

One structured function call replaces entire chains of click → scroll → screenshot → parse

Where Ideaflow Fits

Every protocol in this stack assumes agents can access external knowledge — but nobody has built the canonical knowledge layer. That's what Noos is. The gap in the stack:

What exists

Agents can call tools (MCP), interact with websites (WebMCP), talk to each other (A2A), stream to frontends (AG-UI), and discover capabilities (.well-known)

What's missing

A shared, persistent, queryable knowledge layer that agents can write to and read from. MCP gives agents hands. WebMCP gives them a browser. Noos gives them a shared brain.
