Yeah, I mean, I would say, depending on who they are-- I was in Tim Berners-Lee's group at MIT and sort of have a download on the future of the web that is really remarkable and worthwhile. And we got backed by the absolute dream team of top VCs, like FirstRound, Naval - who were seed investors of Notion, also 8VC and a bunch of other investors.
We think we can really, really categorically change how people are able to interact rapidly. We're building an external version of your mind, basically, is the way I would describe it. This allows people to - It's anyone who ever wanted to build the ultimate cognitive exosuit, which is, I think, at some level every hacker's dream. But some hackers more than others. We're giving you an opportunity to actually do that as your full-time job.
It'll hopefully revolutionize productivity in all kinds of knowledge work areas as well as really be a seminal piece of how - It'll change how we interact with the web in a paradigmatic way as well. And it's a very timely moment to do it because AI is supercharged the ability to make this widely adopted.

• MIT Media Lab product designer Jacob Cole and exited YC founder David Greenspan (creator of Etherpad, YC ‘07 as AppJet, sold to Google) have teamed up to build IdeaFlow —a notebook that augments your intelligence as you type.

• How does this work? For instance, if you had a conversation two years ago, and took a note that mentioned someone's name, and then you're in another meeting now and you end up typing in the same name, it will autocomplete, and show you all the past references to that person and what they are connected to. So it augments your memory by completing these tip of the tongue moments.

• What's more, it doesn't just pull from your past notes, but your entire team's notes. So it's not just an extension of your memory but a collective memory for your organization.

• This is just the beginning. It doesn't just sit on top of notes taken in our app, but becomes a layer on top of all the siloed data sources in your company. It can pull from your CRM, your emails, internal spreadsheets. And all the datasources, like Pitchbook, your org may subscribe to. It's an entire new "mind layer" on top of computer UI that allows you to browse all information in your organization like you do in your brain.

•  We've already garnered over $400K in revenue from pilots on small teams. With our recent fundraise of $10M from prominent VCs and thought-leaders in the field, including Joe Lonsdale, First Round Capital, Naval Ravikant and Sequoia Scouts, we're in a unique position to deploy this to transform not only personal information management but large organizations.

• For instance, one advisor who came on board recently is the former director of Microsoft Digital, which is Microsoft's equivalent of a consulting firm like McKinsey. He oversaw its' growth from zero to $500 million in yearly revenue. He anticipates we could deploy Ideaflow at a site license scale, to the tune of about $2M/year, in Microsoft Digital and similar organizations.

• This will enable us to achieve our larger vision for the future of computing and the future of work, by serving not only as read layer but a write layer – Instead of having to compose information into Salesforce's cumbersome interface, consultants can take all their notes in our platform and they will automatically be persistent to all appropriate systems of record.

Wanting to build a Really strong product / design centric culture
There are so many opportunities branching out of this.
For instance, Neo4j the graph database company, recently released a “user-friendly“ graph, exploration, interface, that on some level is a competitor to the old Ideapad. Lots of overlapping features. However, I’ve been trying to use it for the last several hours, and it’s honestly truly awful to learn how to use, and still off all even once you have learned how! For instants, to create a new none, you have to right click, and then go into a context menu, and then fill out a whole dialog. Obviously, nobody working on this has ever been into mind mapping or getting into flow 🙈
While it’s not our product’s focus right now, when I see opportunities like this (basically, the existence of that product is giant market validation on the old Ideapad— they now have organizations like NASA as a customer!), I reflect on the power of a highly effective design-centered execution team, who can bang out a good version of the products that many less artful, concise, and flow oriented thinkers may not have passion around or may struggle with.

We're looking for an exceptional fullstack engineer to join our small, stellar team of passionate engineers and help build a high performance offline-first web and Electron app. This role requires expertise in real-time collaboration technologies, CRDTs, and graph visualization interfaces. Your work will be at the forefront of creating a tool that acts like an IDE for human thought, with high performance autocompletion and seamless interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Helping build-out core product offerings, including a low-friction notes app and an ontology (knowledge graph) editor
  • Building something at least as complex, seamless, and high performance as an IDE
  • Developing frontend and backend architecture, including API design, database schemas and 3rd party API integration
  • Defining technical priorities with the core engineering team
  • Participating and contributing to the agile development process
